Mortiis

Mortiis was formerly the bassist and primary lyricist for Emperor in the early '90s. He formed this band the day after he parted ways with Emperor. Mortiis is basically the inventor of the genre dungeon synth and THE main act in the early days of the genre. He remains main point of influence for most band active in dungeon synth. His almost 30 year long career spans over a vast spectrum. From being involved with the very beginnings of Norwegian black metal in the ’90s to almost single-handedly creating the “dungeon synth” genre, he then abandoned the latter to make ‘Mortiis’ a four-piece band playing harsh industrial and darkwave music. Now Mortiis is back with renewed energy and a new direction. He’s returned to playing solo, and is rediscovering the dungeon synth genre he helped to create. Mortiis is ever so strong.
